Joseph Maro began his carton career in 1936 working for Carton Craftsmen in Chicago after graduating high school. His career was interrupted in 1942 when he served in the Army Air Corps, in Europe. Returning to the states in 1946 Joe accepted a cutting pressman position at National Paper Box. Joe became a highly skilled die and sample maker and was quickly promoted to plant superintendent. Shortly after developing three patented carton styles Joe decided to open his own carton plant. Maro Paper Products at 2038 W. Hubbard st Chicago, IL 60612 opened its doors in April of 1964 with a 2500 sq ft warehouse and Staude Gladiator window machine. As the years went by Maro Paper Products expanded from the original warehouse and window machine. Acquiring neighboring buildings and expanding capabilities into die cutting, gluing, and printing.
Maro Paper Products moved from its Chicago location to a larger 65,000 sq.ft facility in BELLWOOD, IL. Maro Paper products also changed its name to Maro Carton Inc. to better reflect what we do - folding cartons. Maro Carton Inc. currently is being run by Joe's eldest son Joe JR.
